About Us

After being born and raised in Cortez, CO, Kelly McCabe obtained a bachelor’s degree from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado. He then got his law degree from Seattle University in 1979.

In April of 1980, Kelly returned to Cortez and started the law office of Kelly R. McCabe, P.C. as a sole practitioner in a two-room office upstairs in the Wilson Building. Kelly thrives on the competition of our adversarial legal system and enjoys—more than anything in the practice of law—obtaining great outcomes that help clients win and resolve difficult conflicts and challenges in their lives. On behalf of his clients, Kelly won several of the largest personal injury jury verdicts in the history of Montezuma County, and then successfully defended them in the Colorado Court of Appeals. Kelly has obtained millions of dollars in settlements and jury verdicts for his clients. He is an Eagle member of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association and has tried more than 120 jury trials during his impactful career. Kelly has successfully represented clients in cases from New York to San Diego.

Kelly has added a partner to his office: Keenen D. Lovett, who joined in 2013. Both attorneys have a passion in advocating for their client’s best interests and achieving great outcomes. Having been born and raised in Southwest Colorado, they possess a strong sense of the community they serve and know how to meet the needs of their clients.
